Defo 10 now. I had the HTC ONE and the camera lacked in detail sometimes.
Have a 6 plus now and it is amazing

I have the 6 Plus, and my honest opinion on the camera deal is I don’t care
very much. I hardly ever take pictures on my phone, sometimes If I don’t
have my DSLR with me, I’ll use it to take pictures, other than that,
    nothing.

@jaime You stick with iPhone because your an apple fan but in my testing,
the note 4, turbo, s5 just to name a few took awesome pics very dereiled
that often looked better then the 6 plus photos. They all take good shots
in my opinion, there is always improvement! IPhone doesn’t have the better
camera! It can’t even record in the same clarity as these devices I spoke
of 4k , not that I can see it right now lol because I don’t have a 4k TV.
But as y’all say these devices a future proof so that means the iPhone 6 is
not. It will have 4k recording maybe on the iPhone 8

i think in today’s age a good camera on your smartphone is a 9/10, why
carry a camera and a phone with you both, phones are not just for phone
calls anymore, they are a all in one media device.

all these people in the comments say a 10/10, but nokia pretty much did
this with the 1020 and it didn’t all that well

    10 for me!

My smartphone is my only camera and I always have it on me so it has to be
    good.

A good camera ranks that highly in my smartphone wish list that I would
even consider an iPhone (and I hate ios)

With so many awesome point and shoot cameras being able to wirelessly send
photos directly to your phone, I don’t think the camera in your phone is
    really a big deal.

Not really important. For me battery life is the most important part of the
phone. Without battery life, your phone is useless. Phones should at least
last us 1 day of heavy use. Make it a bit thicker, we don’t care. Guys have
big pockets and girls have handbags. We don’t need some ‘slim’ phones that
    makes the phone more fragile

For me a good camera is only kind of important. The value has gone up in
recent years as the tech has improved. I want a good point and shoot for
any occasion, but anyone that’s genuinely interested in taking photos
should buy a dedicated camera. The difference between a good phone camera
and a “great” phone camera isn’t so dramatic that it influences my
    purchases.

A camera in a smartphone isn’t at all that important to me. Yes, I do take
pictures and honestly I can say that my One (M7) takes photos that are good
enough. Things like the speakers and screen are what are more important to
    me.

5, it needs to have a balance of good battery performance and acceptable
camera. For example I’m loving lollipop on my Nexus 5 at the moment, but
will soon switch back to my Xperia Z2 as I know that phone can last the
    day.

Samsung will probably consolidate some of its lower end phones to better
compete in that market and not touch their flag ship line. They did say
that they had slated foldable screen for 2015 which was pushed from 2014. I
    doubt Apple will be able to make a DSLR equivalent camera for their phones;
they’ll probably market the carp out of it and fool people into thinking
    that they are though.

IMO I hardly ever use my smartphone camera. I mean it’s obviously nice to
have a good camera but I would prefer to have a bad-decent camera and a
lower price than a good camera and a higher price.

Smartphones can NOT shoot as good as DSLR’s for just 1 simple reason: The
size of the Lens -> No Light on the sensor = no quality. Smartphones now
are taking good pictures in the daylight for something like 10 years. But
the in dark… they are just noisy washed out crap.

on a scale of 1 to 10, a camera on a phone is important at around “over
    9000!”

10! because if the phone has it a great camera then you don’t need to carry
another device and makes life easier
